Liverpool have been linked to numerous players in the transfer window, but so far they have recruited just the one new face in Monaco midfielder Fabinho.

Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig after agreeing a deal last summer, but the club are yet to find a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left to join Barcelona in January.

It was widely suggested that Nabil Fekir from Lyon was nailed on to sign on the dotted line this summer, but the deal collapsed over the weekend.

Now it has emerged that another target is likely to have been stricken from the wishlist, but the majority of Liverpool fans are pleased that it has.

According to The Telegraph, West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini was an option for the Reds, but chances of a deal being completed have weakened due to the fact that Argentine is injured.

While training with his national team ahead of the World Cup in Russia, Lanzini suffered cruciate knee ligament damage.

The extent of the injury is unknown, but the midfielder is expected to miss the World Cup, and now Liverpool fans are relieved that their club are unlikely to make a move.
