Liverpool fans show plenty of support to Karius as he returns for pre-season

Not many people connected to Liverpool would have felt worse than Loris Karius did after the final whistle of the Champions League final.

The German goalkeeper made two costly howlers that led to the Reds’ 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.

The first mistake came when he had no pressure around him as the 25-year-old attempted to roll the ball out to one of his defenders.

Instead, he sent it directly into the path of Karim Benzema, who latched on and put Los Blancos ahead.

Later on in the game, Karius conceded Gareth Bale’s second goal following a limp effort to save.

It was later revealed that the shot-stopper had suffered concussion in a collision with Sergio Ramos, but that did little to improve the mood of the fans who had been praying for a sixth European title.

While plenty have placed blame on Karius for the loss, most Liverpool fans have stayed loyal to the German.

There is no doubt that the Merseyside outfit could do with a new goalkeeper this summer, but when their current number one reported for pre-season training on Monday, supporters gave their backing.
