Liverpool fans slam Jordan Henderson after Sevilla collapse

Liverpool missed out on the opportunity to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League as they surrendered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla in Spain on Tuesday night, and Reds fans weren’t impressed with captain Jordan Henderson’s performance.

Following Spartak Moscow’s draw with Maribor earlier in the evening Jurgen Klopp’s side knew that a win would be enough to take them through to the last 16 with a game to spare, and they looked to be cruising to victory following a first-half brace from Roberto Firmino and goal from Sadio Mane.

However, a second-half double from Wissam Ben Yedder and an injury-time equaliser from Guido Pizarro gave the La Liga outfit a point, meaning the race for qualification will go down to the final matchday.

While Alberto Moreno didn’t have his best night against his former team, Henderson was equally poor in the middle of the park – as his stats from the night show.

Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on the 27-year-old’s showing via social media and while one said he is the “core of the problem”, another said “how on Earth do some people actually rate Henderson?”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
