Liverpool fans slam Lazar Markovic after transfer update on the Serb’s future

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react, after Goal reported that Lazar Markovic’s time at Anfield could be coming to an end quicker than the club expected, amid interest from Mexico and China.

The 24-year-old, who signed for the Reds back in 2014 for a fee of around £20m from Benfica (as per the BBC), has been a massive flop on Merseyside.

Amazingly, the Serbian’s last first-team appearance was way back against Queens Park Rangers in May 2015, as per Transfermarkt, less than one year after he arrived at the club as one part of a whole host of peculiar signings brought in by Brendan Rodgers with the money from Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona.

Are the media letting Jurgen Klopp off lightly for his lack of silverware? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

The Northern Irishman brought in the likes of Dejan Lovren, Markovic, Mario Balotelli, Joe Allen, Christian Benteke, Rickie Lambert and Alberto Moreno as some of his more notable signing during his tenure, most of whom arrived for significant fees and ultimately failed to perform in a Liverpool shirt.

Markovic, however, has perhaps been the worst of the lot. The forward has spent four of his five-and-a-half seasons at the club out on loan, spending time at Fenerbahce, Sporting, Hull and Anderlecht respectively, before training with the Under-23 side in the current campaign.

Liverpool, as aforementioned, signed some terrible players under Rodgers, and even before the current Celtic boss’ arrival at the club as well, but most fans are in agreement that Markovic is up there with the very worst…
