Losing Philippe Coutinho in the middle of the season always had the potential to derail Liverpool.
The Brazilian has been the club’s best player for some time, but after managing to keep Barcelona at bay during the summer, the Reds eventually lost him.
Coutinho signed for the Spanish giants earlier this month, meaning that the Merseyside outfit would have to try and reach their objectives without the ‘little magician’.
Initially it seemed that the 25-year-old was not hugely missed as the team managed to beat Manchester City 4-3 at Anfield, ending the Premier League leaders’ unbeaten run.
However, in recent days, Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered defeat to Swansea in the league and were knocked out of the FA Cup by West Bromwich Albion.
Earlier this evening, the Reds were beaten 3-2 by the Baggies at Anfield, and the result has led fans to question why the club have not spent the rumoured £142m fee received for selling Coutinho.

#LFC Could use Coutinho money to make Lemar and Keita moves happen and get Allison or Oblak. They could, but won't.

Not bringing in an attacking player after selling our most gifted player in the squad is gross negligence!! Don’t insult my intelligence by claiming otherwise. We knew Coutinho wanted to leave. The fact we didn’t have plans in place is gross negligence #LFC
