On paper, life looks relatively rosy for Liverpool as they are unbeaten in the Premier League, two points adrift of leaders Manchester City, and sit at the top of Group C in the Champions League.

However, the performances on the pitch have largely been lacklustre and devoid of creativity.

Jurgen Klopp's front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are yet to replicate anything close to last season's form, but it was Tuesday night's overall display against Red Star Belgrade that has been the team's worst so far.

Only a couple of weeks ago were Liverpool easing past their Champions League opponents 4-0 at Anfield, but in Serbia they were disjointed and lacking urgency.

Klopp's side were undone by two first-half goals from Milan Pavkov, and the result hampered their chances of qualifying for the last 16.

Liverpool were helped slightly by the 1-1 draw between Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, which means that regardless of what happens in their next game in Parc des Princes, the team will progress if they overcome the Italian giants by two goals at Anfield.

The dismal display in Serbia has left many fans furious, and a handful have gone as far to suggest that Klopp, who has not won any silverware with Liverpool since his October 2015 appointment, should be sacked.
