On Tuesday night, Liverpool could have a strong indication as to whether they will be competing for the Champions League trophy in Kiev next month.

Jurgen Klopp's side will take on Roma in the semi-finals of the tournament, with the first leg due to be played at Anfield.

Liverpool are famous for their home support, particularly on European nights, and the fans in the stadium did not disappoint as they helped cheer their team to victory against Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

There were unsavoury scenes prior to kickoff, though, as the plan to intimidate the visiting side went a step too far when bottles and other objects were thrown at City's team bus.

In addition to throwing missiles, some fans let off flares and pyrotechnics, but Liverpool hope that the scene will be very different on Tuesday night.

The Merseyside outfit released a statement warning that fans will face police action if found guilty of using flares and pyrotechnics in and around the stadium.
