Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina was arguably the best player on the pitch in the first half of his side’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at St Mary’s on Sunday, and Reds fans have urged their club make the 24-year-old their next recruit from the south coast outfit.
Saints signed the Gabon international from Juventus last summer and he has been one of the most impressive performers this season, although he has also missed chunks of the campaign through injury.
However, the midfielder put in another energetic display and showed his ability on the ball against Jurgen Klopp’s men at the weekend, before he was forced off through illness 12 minutes after the interval.
Liverpool supporters were quick to have their say on Lemina via social media, and while one labelled him as a “world class CDM”, another said he’s “better than all our current CMs”.

Anybody else think Lemina is fat to good for Southampton, better than all our current CM’s. #LFC

I have a feeling Klopp likes something in Lemina, the chit chat after the game, was not nothing. He would be a good replacement for Emre Can. #lfc

Lemina looks a far stronger MF presence than any of Gini, Can, or AOC. #LFC
