Liverpool fans urge Klopp to swoop for Courtois following Belgium’s World Cup exit

Liverpool’s quest for a new goalkeeper seems to have stalled, which means that Loris Karius is likely to remain in between the sticks come the start of the Premier League season in August.

The German has come under fire over the last couple of months after he made two huge howlers that led to goals for Real Madrid in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final.

Numerous names, including Alisson and Jan Oblak, have been linked with moves to Anfield, but no deals have come to fruition.

On Tuesday night, Karius made headlines after spilling a comfortable save in a 3-2 victory over pre-season opponents Tranmere.

At the same time, Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was making crucial saves for Belgium in a World Cup semi-final against France in Russia.

The 26-year-old put in a decent performance despite losing 1-0 in the showdown, and now that Courtois’s campaign is over, some Liverpool fans have suggested a swoop.

The Belgian, who is valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, came under fire a handful of times from Chelsea supporters last season, but there are groups of Reds fans who would be happy to take him.
