Liverpool fans have had to settle for glimpses of Fabinho in action as manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a patient approach.

The Brazilian has spent the majority of the season so far waiting for his opportunity and only being used in dribs and drabs.

On Wednesday night, though, he was named in the starting line-up to take on Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League at Anfield.

It was the first time that Fabinho had played a full 90 minutes for Liverpool and he turned out to be one of the team's best players on the night.

The 25-year-old showed strength in a tackle as well as a desire to get forward and play in his teammates in the final third.

There will be future occasions where opponents will not allow Fabinho as much time on the ball as Red Star did, but his performance is likely to give Klopp something to think about with regards to team selection.

Jordan Henderson missed out due to injury, but some Liverpool fans believe that even when the captain is fit, Fabinho should be above him in the pecking order.
