Steven Gerrard has legendary status at Liverpool after years of being the club's talisman.

The midfielder resisted the temptation to move to rival clubs during his prime, and in the end spent 17 years playing for the Merseyside outfit.

The ex-England captain, who retired in 2016 following a spell at LA Galaxy, was instrumental in the Reds' Champions League win in 2005 and FA Cup triumph the following year.

Gerrard carved out a reputation of being a player who could grab games by the scruff of the neck and pull Liverpool out of a dangerous spot.

The 37-year-old remains part of the club, but in a different capacity as he is the Under-18s coach.

Next month, Gerrard will pull on the red shirt again for a charity legends game against Bayern Munich at Anfield, where past players will try to put on an entertaining contest for the fans.

In the build up to the friendly, Liverpool posted a clip of Gerrard scoring three goals during an indoor training session.

The footage convinced fans that their former captain still has what it takes, with some claiming that he should replace Henderson.
