Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is unlikely to find his way back to the number one spot at Liverpool, but whether he ends up staying at Anfield remains to be seen.

Mignolet in action vs West Brom

The Belgium international was Jurgen Klopp's first choice between the sticks up until January when Loris Karius took over.

Unfortunately for the young German, he suffered a fall from grace when he made two costly errors that led to defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May.

It became glaringly obvious that the Merseyside outfit needed a new keeper, and they managed to get one in the form of Brazilian international Alisson.

Now, Mignolet has dropped to third choice following the departure of Danny Ward, but it seems that the shot-stopper could get lured away before Thursday's transfer deadline at 5pm.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have turned their attention to a possible move for Mignolet.

After these reports emerged, some Liverpool fans proposed a swap deal that would see Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly - valued at £54m by Transfermarkt - move the other way to Anfield.
