Liverpool fans want Shaqiri to start against Paris Saint-Germain if Firmino is out

Liverpool fans will face their biggest test of the season so far as they welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield for their opening Champions League group game on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have started the season off positively as they have not dropped a point in their Premier League campaign.

The club have won all five of their fixtures, the most recent being a 2-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

The results have been perfect, but the performances on the pitch have been a little short of what is expected.

Liverpool have an opportunity to kick off their Champions League campaign with a scintillating display, but they will have to tackle the danger posed by the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.

There is a doubt over Roberto Firmino’s involvement given that he missed training on Monday due to an abrasion on his eye that he suffered during a tussle with Jan Vertonghen on Sunday.

Klopp claimed to reporters that he is unsure if the attacker will be involved against PSG, which has led some fans to call on Xherdan Shaqiri to start.

The Switzerland international is yet to be given a spot in the first XI since his summer switch from Stoke City, and has been restricted to just two substitute appearances.
