Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some comments from Virgil van Dijk, as the Dutch captain talked up a potential move for compatriot Matthijs de Ligt.

Liverpool have found one of the best centre back pairings in world football with van Dijk and Joe Gomez, but it seems the new skipper is eyeing up another young defender to work with.

Van Dijk has worn the armband in the absence of James Milner and Jordan Henderson, and the 27 year-old is full of praise for de Ligt.

“He is already very far, especially at that age. A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step,” the Liverpool star said of his Netherlands teammate.

“He will be on the list, because they have enough scouts at the club,” he replied when asked if the Ajax wonderkid should join him at Liverpool.

“If they need my opinion at Liverpool, I’ll give it.”

The reds paid a whopping £75m for van Dijk back in January, a figure that is becoming more and more worthwhile with every passing game.

The colossal ex-Southampton star has wowed the Anfield faithful with his leadership and composure, and fans are drooling at the prospect of pairing Gomez, de Ligt and van Dijk together in a back three.
