Liverpool announced on Wednesday afternoon that Marko Grujic had joined Championship side Cardiff City on loan for the remainder of the season.

Grujic joined Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, but he has only made 13 first-team appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions.

Just two of his appearances have come in the Premier League this season, meanwhile, and speculation linking the midfielder with a loan move had gathered pace in recent weeks.

Cardiff won the race for his signature, and it is a big coup for the Welsh club, who are currently battling to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

At 21, Grujic, who is valued at £4.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, certainly has time to develop, and news that the four-time Serbia international had left on loan was welcomed by the Liverpool fans on social media.
