Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has made Birmingham City youngster Nathan Redmond a January target as he looks to continuously improve his squad, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Rodgers has already showed in his short time at Anfield that he is keen on giving youngsters a chance and the England under-19 winger would be a realistic target as Liverpool look to break into the European places in the Premier League.

Redmond has been thought of as one of the brightest youngsters in England over the past 18 months and the financially troubled Blues may be willing to sell come January. After losing Fabio Borini to injury, Rodgers knows that signings are inevitable after Christmas.

“Obviously there'll be money available to do that in January. The scouting team are out there now compiling lists and looking at targets that we can hopefully bring in.

"If they are affordable and available then hopefully we can bring in that support that can help the group.

"I'm confident of that. There will be one or two of our scouting network, along with myself, who will be looking at players.

"Whichever one of those players out of that group I want to go for, then we'll do that."
