Davide Santon believes that Liverpool‘s Mario Balotelli could decide to link up with him back at Inter Milan.
The ex-Newcastle defender and the much-maligned Reds forward are both former youth stars at the Nerazzurri and endured mixed fortunes after leaving the San Siro.
Once hailed the ‘new Paolo Maldini’, Santon’s young career has been blighted by a series of injuries, although he did show signs of his true talent while on Tyneside.
‘Balo’ has won the league title in England, played for AC Milan and headed back to the Premier League in that time, and his future once again appears unclear.
With no league goals to his name for Brendan Rodgers, Balotelli could find himself once again shipped out at the age of 24, with a return to his homeland the most likely outcome should the Reds lose faith in him.
And Santon, although he doesn’t know the 24-year-old’s plans, believes that he could decide to play for Inter once again:
“We met this year at the match against Liverpool,” he is quoted by The Express. “We got on together, he has had problems but this is the past.
“Mario will react, he is strong and will do his speaking on the pitch.
“I do not know if he will return to Italy, I’m not a sporting director or an agent. He will decide.”
