Mario Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, has insisted that his client is happy at Liverpool and will stay this month, but that his future beyond the summer is unclear.
The Italian striker joined the Reds from AC Milan in a £16m deal over the summer and was hailed as the man to replace the goals of Luis Suarez – who joined Barcelona – at the time.
However, his spell at Anfield has been, thus far, poor, with the 24-year-old yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League – albeit he has scored in the Capital One Cup and Champions League.
‘Balo’ was omitted from Liverpool’s squad for the shock home FA Cup draw with Bolton over the weekend which has fuelled further speculation about his future, but Raiola says that there’s no chance of his client leaving this month, but that the summer may be different:
“We didn’t ask to leave. It is too early, with the injury, to say we leave in January.” He is quoted by The Metro.
“There are no big problems. He’s adapting to a new style that the manager wants. We’ll see in the summer.”
Raiola also stated that Balotelli is contention Merseyside:
“Yes, he is happy at Liverpool,” he said.
“Nobody is happy to be left out but he reacted in a professional way.”
