Liverpool flop offered Turkish escape route

Turkish side Besiktas are weighing up their options ahead of a potential bid for Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli, according to Eurosport Turkey.

The Italy international – who turns 25 in August – joined the Reds in a £16 million deal from Serie A giants AC Milan last summer, but struggled badly in his first season at Anfield, scoring just four goals in 28 competitive games.

His only Europa League strike was in a 1-0 victory over Besiktas in February, which appears to have convinced the Turkish side to make a move for the striker.

Besiktas are understood to be looking for a replacement for Demba Ba, who is set to quit the Ataturk Olympic Stadium after just one season as the Senegalese hopes to seal a return to the Premier League.

They have identified that man as Balotelli, with Eurosport Turkey also claiming that the favourable tax rates in the country could convince the controversial hitman to make the move east.
