Liverpool could be forced to cover part of Christian Benteke’s £120,000 salary even if he LEAVES the club this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The £32.5m striker has failed to settle in on Merseyside under both Brendan Rodgers and, particularly, current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
Following his mega money from Aston Villa, the Belgian marksman has notched just eight goals for his new charges.
Starting just three of the club’s last 16 games, he has fallen behind the returning Daniel Sturridge as well as countryman Divock Origi in the pecking order.
That could leave the Anfield outfit with the prospect of having to cover a portion of his wages, even after potentially leaving the club.
Benteke is believed to have rejected a lucrative move to the wealthy Chinese Super League over the course of the January transfer window, wanting to prove himself on these shores.
