Liverpool in surprise bid for City ace

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is to turn to Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez to replace Luis Suarez up front next season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Argentinean looked set to join Juventus this week but his £200,000 a week wages have been a stumbling block, an issue that would also crop up at Liverpool.

Under new management, Manchester City are set to have a summer clear-out and Tevez is one of a number of big names that look to be heading towards the Etihad door.

Liverpool on the other hand are desperate not to lose their best players but Suarez’s open comments about leaving has put the Reds in a no win situation.

Once Suarez is gone Rodgers wants to also sell striker Andy Carroll and use the combined money to bring Tevez to Anfield.

Tevez could cost as little as £8million but much like Juventus the wages are going to be the tricky talks.
