Naby Keita will reportedly miss around two weeks with the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty, but what does his absence mean for the rest of the team?

What's the story?

Liverpool were nearly in dire straits after a spree of international injuries over the last two weeks, but if truth be told they’ve got off pretty lightly.

Sadio Mane is expected to return soon from a broken thumb, while both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are fully fit to face Huddersfield on Saturday.

No such luck for Keita though, as David Maddock of The Mirror claims the Guinean will miss “at least a fortnight” with a hamstring strain.

The big summer signing has not quite had the desired impact at Anfield so far, but what does his injury mean for this upcoming run of games?

Finally Fabinho time?

If there was ever a time to get Fabinho up to speed, it’s now. The Reds face Huddersfield, Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City in their next three games, and there will not be an easier stretch of matches for quite some time.

The Brazilian has had to wait for his opportunity at Anfield, but Jürgen Klopp may be forced to throw him in with the injuries stacking up in midfild. James Milner is supposedly fit to play Huddersfield but shouldn’t rush back with a hamstring issue, and Fabinho’s defensive solidity could allow Klopp to use the likes of Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri in front of him.

Another new role for Wijnaldum?

Wijnaldum has been excellent in the “number six” role this season, but tends to struggle when Jordan Henderson takes that spot and pushes the Dutchman into the box-to-box role. Given his success for the Netherlands this week though, could he move even further forward and be the Reds’ new number ten?

Klopp’s side are crying out for someone who can break lines from midfield, and Wijnaldum’s speed and dribbling ability could certainly make a difference. He scored a fabulous goal against Germany, and if he can find his shooting boots he could be the temporary Philippe Coutinho replacement Klopp has been crying out for.

So, Liverpool fans, how do you think you will line up against Huddersfield? Could we finally see Fabinho? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
