Liverpool join transfer race for Spanish ace

Michu (Swansea City)Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race for Swansea attacker Michu, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Spaniard has developed into one of the Premier League’s top talents since his arrival at the Liberty Stadium last year from Rayo Vallecano for just £2m.

Arsenal were strongly linked with 27-year-old over the summer, but instead opted to pursue a club record deal for Mesut Ozil.

Swansea are desperate to keep their talismanic forward, and have recently set their valuation for his signature at £30m.

However, this has not deterred Liverpool.

The Reds are thought to be watching the versatile attacker ahead of the January transfer window.

With Luis Suarez’s future still unclear, the Anfield side may look to replace the Uruguayan with Michu.

Arguably the signing of 2012/13, the Spanish ace was key in Swansea’s Capital One Cup win and is regarded as one of the club’s most important players.

His fine displays have seen him break into his nation’s senior squad, despite them having a wealth of talented players in his position.

The Swans are in no rush to sell, with Michu having three years to run on his current contract.
