Liverpool keen on 23-year-old ace, Klopp has already spoken to him – expert

Liverpool are interested in Rubin Kazan’s Magomed Ozdoyev and manager Jurgen Klopp had a 15-minute conversation with the player around the time the two clubs met in Europa League action, according to Russian football expert Artur Petrosyan.

The Reds took on the Tatarstan outfit in continental action last month, drawing at home before beating them at the Kazan Arena.

And it’s around the time of the latter fixture that Klopp is understood to have spoken to the 23-year-old, whom the Merseysiders are very much interested in.

Sport-Express editor Petrosyan took to Twitter to reveal the story:

“Liverpool (along with Schalke, Lyon and Spartak) are interested in Magomed Ozdoev. Klopp had a 15-min chat with the 23yo midfielder in Kazan.”

Petrosyan went on to reveal that the youngster’s playing style is akin to that of Klopp’s ‘gegenpressing’ philosophy and that a release clause triggering £4.32m offer will be enough to sign the player:

“Ozdoev’s buyout clause is €6m. He’s quick, good at pressing, tackling, counter attacking, key passing. Discipline needs to improve though.”

The young midfielder has been capped six times at senior international level by Russia and only signed for Rubin from Lokomotiv Moscow on a permanent basis – he spent last season at the club on loan – over the summer.
