Liverpool keen to beat Man United to midfield star in January

Liverpool are considering a move to beat bitter rivals Manchester United to Lazio playmaker Lucas Biglia in January, according to reports from Metro.

The Argentine midfielder was one of the stars of the Rome giants’ impressive 2014/15 campaign, with his composed passing in the middle of the pitch helping the sky blue-clad outfit to a third place finish in Serie A.

United were heavily linked with Biglia over the summer, and reports have since suggested that a fresh move in the New Year is on Louis van Gaal’s agenda.

However, it’s now claimed that Liverpool are also in the running for the pass-master.

It’s understood that Biglia himself has grown restless in the Italian capital, which could open the door for the 29-year-old to move.

Kop chief Jurgen Klopp is currently working with the squad inherited from predecessor Brendan Rodgers, which may tempt him to make mid-season signings.
