Liverpool are eager to win the race for long-term Everton target Andriy Yarmolenko, according to reports.
The Ukraine international has been aligned with the a host of top European clubs for some time, with the Toffees having been mentioned as keen suitors as recently as January.
It’s no great surprise that the 26-year-old Dynamo Kiev man has been attracting such attention, with the attacking midfielder having netted 14 goals last term to fire his side to the Ukrainian title, while he’s notched 10 this term and has 23 in 57 appearances at international level.
And now The Sun (citing Sport) claim that Liverpool have been alerted.
The Reds look set for a massive summer under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, although Mario Gotze is believed to be their top target, and with the German plying his trade in the same position as the £25m-rated Yarmolenko it remains to be seen if both will be targeted.
Liverpool have a poor record when it comes to negotiating with Ukrainian teams, with the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Willian and Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk having evaded their grasp in recent years, while a move for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s Yevhen Konoplyanka famously collapsed in January 2014.
