Barcelona are trying to get the 16-year-old to sign a new long term contract with the Catalan club, but Liverpool are hopeful they can take advantage of the talks and swoop in with an offer.
The right-winger could be receiving a bigger contract from Liverpool to try lure him to Anfield, instead of staying in Spain.
One of the philosophies Brendan Rodgers has is to focus on youth players, as the Northern Irishman looks for talented teenagers that he can mould into his style of play.
With Canos showing a great first touch, as well as pace and good finishing, he could be an ideal young signing for Rodgers to build his long term plan for the Merseyside club.
Rodgers has introduced plenty of young stars to the Anfield faithful this season, including Raheem Sterling, Suso, Andre Wisdom and Jack Robinson, who have all benefited from more first team football than they could have expected.
But Rodgers won’t be afraid to add to that list of players if he finds more teenagers worthy, and could primed and ready to bring Sergi Canos to the club. Rodgers will be looking forward for the summer transfer window, as he starts to build a squad ready to try break into the top four spaces of the Premier League.
