Liverpool make South American bad boy priority January target

Liverpool have made signing Ezequiel Lavezzi from Paris Saint-Germain a transfer priority heading into the January window, according to reports from CalcioMercatoWeb.

The Argentina international has been linked with moves to the Reds over the course of the past few summers, but has stayed in France with the Parisians, whom he’s helped to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

However, his game time in the dark blue shirt has been limited so far this season – he’s been handed just one start – by the arrival of Angel di Maria from Manchester United, which has alerted Liverpool.

Reports claim that the 30-year-old is now a major target for the Merseysiders, who are likely to pursue a cut-price deal with Lavezzi’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.

There is the opportunity to agree a pre-contract deal as soon as the calendar flips to 2016, but a mid-season move could boost Liverpool’s Champions League qualification hunt.

Lavezzi has been embroiled in off-field controversy of late after revealing pictures of him were leaked by model, Mariana Diarco.
