Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has commented on the transfer link to Takumi Minamino for the first time in his Watford pre-match press conference, as per The Athletic's James Pearce on Twitter.

The Telegraph reported on Thursday that the Merseyside outfit had agreed a £7.25m deal to sign the Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, who has been in brilliant form for the Austrian club this season.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Hornets, the German boss said: "There's nothing else to say about it. We only talk when any transfer is sorted. He's a very good player but there are a lot of very good players in the Salzburg team."

The 24-year-old Japan international has certainly impressed during the 2019/20 campaign, scoring nine goals and providing a further 11 assists in all competitions - including one of each in his team's 4-3 defeat in the Champions League at Anfield back in October.

Primarily playing on the right for Salzburg this term according to those matches where his position has been recorded by Transfermarkt, it appears as though he will provide some competition for Mo Salah, and perhaps even be an option for the most attacking of the central midfield trio, too.

Klopp certainly hasn't moved to deny the speculation with his latest comments though, and given all of the reports it seems almost nailed on that Minamino will be a Liverpool player in the New Year.

He could prove to be a huge bargain buy at that price.
