It's often easy to forget that football players are in fact human beings and not factory-made robots produced purely for our entertainment.

Players, like humans, have thoughts, feeling, emotions, eyes and ears, but the way supporters communicate with them on social media and in the stands suggests most are oblivious to that.

The fact footballers are made from the same stuff as humans can help to explain why it's not always straightforward for a player to transfer their exceptional form from one club to another.

Fernando Torres famously flopped at Chelsea, Florian Thauvin came and left Newcastle almost without trace before tearing up Ligue One, and Philippe Coutinho has wilted since leaving Liverpool for Barcelona.

Takumi Minamino, Liverpool's new recruit from RB Salzburg, will be hoping to avoid falling into a category alongside some of the aforementioned failed signings.

In order to become a success at Anfield he will need to reach the immensely high standards that have been set in recent years, deal with the expectations of a historic Premier League title-chasing club and adapt to his surroundings in a new city and country.

Moving to a new country in pursuit of employment is a tricky challenge to face irrespective of your line of work, but Klopp has already suggested the Japan international is in safe hands at Melwood, per Liverpoolfc.com.

"Yesterday he was here, we had a very light session and he enjoyed it a lot. The boys were incredible with him – Sadio, Naby with the Salzburg genetic or DNA whatever. It was really nice."

But perhaps the most telling quotes from Klopp's interview with the club website concerned linguistics.

While Minamino's English was described as "OK", the 52-year-old boss went on to praise his German and suggested they can communicate effectively in his mother tongue.

"Communication-wise is really good, so his English is absolutely OK but the German is really good – it doesn't help the team much but me! We can talk, we didn’t do it yesterday too much, just a little bit because it's now important that he really settles."

Though Klopp does suggest that he needs to allow the new recruit space to make the transition into a new squad, the fact he can speak to Minamino in German suggests he could be vital in helping him settle both on and off the field.

His language proficiency hints he will be able to form a coherent relationship with his manager without needing to rely on translators, and that can only benefit the 24-year-old both on the field and in his personal life.

It may only be a small factor but Klopp's admission on Minamino reveals how important he will be in easing the transition process.
