Liverpool are set to be without Adam Lallana for the rest of January, with the England international having picked up a thigh injury.
The 26-year-old only signed for the Reds in a £25m deal from Southampton over the summer and has recently been producing the form expected of him after a difficult start to life at Anfield.
Lallana netted twice for Brendan Rodgers’ side during an impressive win over Swansea in the Merseysiders’ last game of 2014, and has been working well alongside Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in a front three of late.
However, he was forced off after 55 minutes against Leicester on New Year’s Day – his sixth game on the bounce – with what his manager described as a “tweak” in his thigh.
It’s now understood that the issue is more complex than first feared and that Lallana may miss the rest of the month – including tonight’s clash with AFC Wimbledon.
I am told #LFC will be without Adam Lallana for the next month due to a thigh injury. Big blow.
