According to The Mirror, Borussia Dortmund can be expected to cash in on starlet Christian Pulisic if an offer in excess of £50m is on the table, and now is the perfect time for Liverpool to make their move.

What's the story?

The Mirror recently reported that Dortmund chief executive Michael Zorc declared that none of the club's "essential" stars would leave in January, with Lucien Favre's side sitting seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

However, Pulisic has just over 18 months left on his current contract and he has lost his place in the preferred starting XI to England youngster Jadon Sancho, so he could leave if the price is right.

For the three Premier League clubs that are interested - Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool - it would seem that £50m would buy the American youngster.

The perfect move

The 20-year-old, who joined BVB at the age of 16, would make an ingenious signing for Liverpool though. Not only is boss Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer after working with him in Germany, but Pulisic would be a marketing dream for the Reds' American owners FSG.

The Pennsylvania-born youngster is the biggest star in American football right now, and he already has a big-money sponsorship deal with Nike. With the popularity of 'soccer' on the up in the USA, signing Pulisic would be an excellent commercial move for Liverpool as they look to grow the brand even further.

The youngster would add to an already potent attack on Merseyside too. His pace, trickery and ability to play in the Gegenpressing system mean that a reunion with Klopp would be an ideal move for all parties. If the Reds are to truly challenge Manchester City they need to match the strength in depth that is available to Pep Guardiola.
