It’s claimed that should Jurgen Klopp’s side offload both Mario Balotelli and Christian Benteke they may move for the burley South American, who would then compete with Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings to be the focal point of the Merseysiders’ attack.
However, Liverpool are not alone in the race, with AC Milan and Porto also aligned with the forward, who developed a reputation as one of the most lethal marksmen around while with the Portuguese club between 2012 and 2015, notching 67 goals in 90 league showings.
Although Klopp’s side are named as candidates in the race, it’s hard to imagine the Anfield club moving for Martinez given that he’s one of the highest paid players on the planet.
