Liverpool on verge of solving major problem with big move

Liverpool are keen to wrap up a late £17m move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Reds are said to be on the hunt for a top class glovesman to replace Simon Mignolet who has been, albeit impressive lately, the subject of criticism for some less than commanding displays – which peaked during his spell out of the first XI last month.

Ter Stegen has emerged as a target of late, despite the German ace having only been signed by Barca over the summer.

Despite his billing as one of the Bundesliga’s top stoppers before the switch, his time at the Nou Camp has been, so far, frustrating, due to the form of fellow arrival Claudio Bravo.

This has alerted Liverpool, who are keen to tie up a deal before next week’s deadline passes.

Ter Stegen is understood to be valued at around £17m, and the Merseysiders are also open to a loan move for the 22-year-old.
