Liverpool outcast now on Stoke’s radar

Stoke have turned their attention to Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert after failing with a late move to land Emmanuel Adebayor from Spurs, according to reports from The Express.

Potters boss Mark Hughes had been hopeful of setting up a reunion with the Togo hit-man – whom he coached at Manchester City – and was buoyed by Tottenham’s perceived willingness to let the experienced forward leave White Hart Lane.

But ‘Ade’ is understood to have turned down a loan move to QPR and is set to tell Stoke that he’s not interested in a switch to the Britannia Stadium as he digs his heels in to force his stay at Spurs or move abroad.

And this has forced Hughes to look elsewhere, with Liverpool flop Lambert now a target.

The ex-Southampton man joined his boyhood club last year, but has struggled to hold down a first-team berth or justify his role in Brendan Rodgers’ set-up with just three goals to his name.
