Liverpool plotting move for forgotten Manchester City ace

John Guidetti Manchester City forwardLiverpool are pondering a shock January move for Manchester City striker John Guidetti, according to reports from The Metro.

The Swedish ace was once thought of as one of Europe’s top emerging forwards, but a series of injuries and the presence of some top quality rivals at the Etihad Stadium have seen him slip off of the radar.

The powerful front-man is now fully fit and battling for a first-team spot, but looks set for disappointment.

As a result, Liverpool are ready to make a move as Brendan Rodgers plots his winter action.

The Reds have their own talented attackers in Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, but beyond the hot-shot pairing there is a lack of depth.

Rodgers sees the 21-year-old as the ideal man to challenge the pair and provide cover across the rest of the season.

Guidetti is thought to be ready to leave City to get his career back on track, and could be tempted by Anfield, which has been the ideal site for Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho to revive their careers in recent times.

Although the Sky Blues are not keen to sell to a rival, they may be willing to accept a £5m offer for a player set to enter the final 18 months of his contract.

Guidetti rose to fame in 2012 after netting 20 goals in 23 matches while on loan at Feyenoord.

Could John Guidetti get his career back on track at Liverpool?
