Liverpool are attempting to hijack Watford’s move for Fluminense starlet Joao Pedro, Brazilian reports claim.

What's the story?

According to Globo Esporte, Liverpool want to sign 17 year-old Pedro, despite the rising star already agreeing a deal with the Hornets.

Per the report, Watford have agreed to sign the teenager for €10m, but a payment of €20m can breach that contract.

The Reds watched the teenager score an incredible hat trick on Thursday night, per Scouts in Attendance, who also say the Anfield outfit have enquired about trumping Watford’s move.

Future star

Merseyside already has one ex-Fluminense star, and he scored 14 goals for Everton last season, but Richarlison’s numbers at the Brazilian club don’t even come close to Pedro’s.

In 44 games, the ex-Hornet and current Toffee bagged 11 goals. Pedro’s hat trick on Thursday night took his tally to seven goals in the famous green and red stripes, despite only playing a total of 170 minutes in his senior career.

That comes out at a frankly ridiculous goal every 34 minutes, and thus it is no surprise to see the Reds sniffing around a potential deal.

€20m, or £17.6m, is an incredible amount of money for a player with so little senior experience, but Michael Edwards has made a habit of finding transfer gems at Liverpool, could this Brazilian wonderkid be his next?
