Liverpool are confident of completing a sensational £31.2million move for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to Metro.
It is being reported that Higuain is looking for a move away from Italy in January, which has alerted Brendan Rodgers and convinced him to add to his £100m+ summer spending spree.
Liverpool are reportedly leading the race for the striker and they see him as an easier option compared to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who they have been tracking for some time now.
The Reds have struggled to reinvent the performances that saw them finish second in the Premier League and score over 100 goals last season and the arrival of Mario Balotelli hasn’t yet helped fill the void left by Luis Suarez.
Liverpool are expected to lodge an official bid for the striker within the next few weeks in the hope that they can get a deal completed before the January transfer window opens.
