Liverpool preparing move for £18m duo

Chelsea striker Daniel SturridgeLiverpool are close to completing deals for Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge and former youth player Tom Ince, according to reports from The Mirror.

It’s believed that negotiations are at an advanced stage with both players, who will cost a combined £18m.

Sturridge is a long-term target of Reds’ manager Brendan Rodgers, who feels that he is the ideal man to strengthen the threadbare Anfield attack.

Luis Suarez is the team’s only fit, established striker, with summer arrival Fabio Borini injured.

The Uruguayan was suspended for their weekend clash with West Ham, forcing the Kop boss to play midfielder Jonjo Shelvey in an advanced ‘false nine’ role.

Sturridge can operate as both a central striker or on either flank, which will greatly boost Rodgers’ options and is said to available for £12m.

It was rumoured that the Chelsea back-up front man was demanding £80,000-per-week, but it’s unlikely that the Merseysiders will match such a figure.

Ince is also thought to be close to signing, following a successful spell with Championship outfit Blackpool.

The 20-year-old left Liverpool in 2010 after growing frustrated by a lack of opportunities, but is said to be willing to have a second crack at life with the Reds.

The arrivals may spell the end of Joe Cole’s time at the club, with QPR and West Ham rumoured to be interested.

Liverpool are also thought to monitoring the situation of Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez ahead of a possible loan deal.
