Liverpool pricing clubs out of transfer deal for Everton & Sunderland target

According to reports from Sky Sports, Liverpool want to recoup full the £32.5million transfer fee they paid for Christian Benteke last summer.

The Reds paid Aston Villa that exact sum in summer 2015, after the Belgium international had netted 49 times in 101 appearances for the Birmingham outfit.

But the 25-year-old has struggled to live up to his price-tag at Anfield and ended last season out of favour under Jurgen Klopp.

The German gaffer has already admitted a summer sale is likely after Benteke suggested he should move on.

But it appears Liverpool are already pricing out some of Benteke’s summer suitors, with the Merseyside club reportedly demanding their original investment be paid back in full.

That has already seen Besiktas drop out of the race to sign the 6 foot 3 striker according to journalist Kristof Terreur.

But a number of Premier League clubs are still believed to be targeting Benteke, with Mirror Football recently linking Everton and Sunderland.

Whether they’ll meet Liverpool’s valuation or follow Besiktas in dropping their interest, however, remains to be seen.
