Liverpool pushing to re-sign former hero

Liverpool are genuinely interested in a deal to re-sign Fernando Torres in January, according to reports from Fichajes.

The 30-year-old Spaniard is still technically a Chelsea player, but the Blues allowed him to join AC Milan over the summer on a two-year loan deal – which will see out the remainder of his contract with the west Londoners.

However, Torres has struggled in Italy, and with just one goal to his name after ten games, the Rossoneri are rumoured to be looking at ways to get rid of the forward.

There’s talk of Milan terminating the deal, and with Chelsea far from keen to bring their £50m flop back into the first-team set-up, a free transfer may be sanctioned.

This has alerted Liverpool, who are struggling for goals this term following the exit of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge’s injury woes and the below par showings from summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert.

Brendan Rodgers is thought to see ‘El Nino’ as a genuine short-term option, which could see the Reds make a dramatic move to bring the man they sold in 2011 back to Merseyside.

Torres was a big hit at Anfield, scoring close to 70 goals in just over 100 appearances.
