Liverpool fans have criticised Fabinho for his performance against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Reds won 2-1 at Anfield, despite falling behind to Callum Wilson’s goal.

Mohamed Salah brought Jurgen Klopp’s men level before Sadio Mane scored the winner before half-time.

Fabinho lasted the 90 minutes for his side but his display was one pockmarked by errors.

Indeed, he was caught in possession in the build-up to Ryan Fraser’s chance to lob Adrian, who had rushed out to meet the winger. With the Bournemouth winger’s strike seemingly sailing into the back of the net, James Milner somehow got back to the line to hook the ball clear and keep his side’s lead intact.

And a number of fans believe that the Brazilian’s display was a poor one.

A couple of fans expressed their concerns over Fabinho's form at the moment, and when looking at Whoscored's match ratings over the past couple of weeks, it is clear to see why. In his last eight games since returning from injury, he has managed a rating of over seven on only two occasions.

One fan meanwhile suggested that Fabinho was "too afraid to win any aerial duels and get into tackles", appearing to question his commitment - as per Whoscored he didn't complete a single tackle all game.

Fabinho has been working his way back to full fitness following a ligament injury sustained against Napoli in the Champions League.

He had 66 touches throughout the game with Eddie Howe’s men, per WhoScored, and had a pass success rate of 92%, a tally only bettered by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Fabinho did win three aerial duels but he did not manage to complete a tackle, while he was also dribbled past twice.

While he did make one interception, his defensive numbers leave something to be desired, and suggest that he could well do with a defensive-minded partner alongside him.

Perhaps he is merely still trying to get back to fitness.

Whatever the reason, the supporters are in the right here.
