Liverpool ready early move for Championship starlet

Derby County midfielder Will HughesLiverpool are ready to beat a host of Premier League sides to the signature of Derby midfielder Will Hughes by lodging an offer before the transfer window opens, according to reports from The Sun.

The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the very best young players outside of the top tier following a succession of excellent displays in the Championship.

His fine performances have alerted a number of England’s top club sides, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal having all been linked with moves for his signature.

But, Liverpool are ready to beat their rivals with an early bid.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to draft in Hughes as soon as possible, and is set to sanction an offer ahead of the New Year.

It is hoped that they may be able to conclude a switch before other top teams become interested and keep themselves clear of a bidding war.

Liverpool currently have a good relationship with Derby after loaning them Andre Wisdom recently.

The Rams themselves are keen to keep Hughes, but have confessed that a tempting offer –thought to be in the region of £12m – may be enough to force them to sell.
