Manager Brendan Rodgers has raided La Liga twice already this summer, bringing in Spanish forwards Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto from Celta Vigo and Sevilla respectively.
Now it appears the Reds are ready to launch a bid for a third Spanish forward in the form of Morata, with the club preparing an opening offer of £6million.
The 20-year-old is highly rated in his homeland, and the Reds have been encouraged by the striker’s comments which revealed he would be interested in playing in the Premier League.
Morata is expected to meet new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti in the coming days to decide on his future.
The former Chelsea boss would hope to use the youngster as a makeweight in a possible deal for Luis Suarez, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeau all summer, although Liverpool are adamant they will only accept a cash offer for the forward who scored 30 goals for them in all competitions last season.
It is thought Ancelotti is unable to offer Morata the assurance of more playing time next season, meaning the player is likely to seek a move despite having two years left to run on his current deal.
