Liverpool ready to challenge Man United for eighth summer signing

Liverpool are ready to take on Manchester United in the race for Barcelona’s Pedro, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.

The Reds took their summer signings tally to seven on Wednesday night when they confirmed the signing of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, with the cash being splashed at Anfield following the exit of Raheem Sterling.

And although Brendan Rodgers is already facing the prospect of bedding in a host of new players ahead of the looming 2015/16 campaign, reports claim that another addition in the shape of Pedro is wanted.

The 27-year-old attacker, who has been heavily linked with Man United of late, is available for just shy of £22m due to a release clause in his recently signed Barca contract, and faces an uncertain future at the club due to the presence of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Pedro has won just about every prize available to him with both the Catalan club and Spain and could offer Rodgers experience to add to his youthful squad.
