Liverpool ready to go back in for Argentine ace

Liverpool are set to reignite their pursuit of Ezequiel Lavezzi after Paris Saint-Germain told them to forget about Edinson Cavani, according to reports from The Express.

Despite adding Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to his frontline over the summer, Brendan Rodgers is thought to be ready to buy another striker in January in a bid to replicate the club’s second place finish earlier this year this season.

Cavani was rumoured to be the major target amid talk he’s unsettled in Paris, however the Ligue 1 champions are not ready to sell.

And now reports suggest that the door is wide open to nab his PSG team-mate Lavezzi.

The pacey attacker is thought to be available for the right price – around £15m-£20m – this winter, which has alerted Liverpool after they narrowly missed out on clinching his signature during the last transfer window.

The 29-year-old is widely thought of as one of French football’s top talents and has been a key member of PSG’s successful Middle Eastern-backed era.

Rodgers is also pondering recalling Divock Origi early from a loan spell at Lille, however working out a deal with them may be tricky given the Belgian’s exciting start to the season.
