Liverpool ready to move for talented Bundesliga youngster

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are lining up a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s young superstar Julian Brandt.

What’s the word?

Liverpool have a wealth of attacking talent at Anfield but Klopp is determined to add more to his side, looking to bring the Reds to a level capable of winning the title.

The Echo reckon that one of his top targets is Julian Brandt, currently in red hot form at Bayer Leverkusen.

The paper says that Brandt has been scouted on multiple occasions by Liverpool, who are willing to meet the German club’s £20m valuation of the wide man.

Any move will have to come in the summer however with Leverkusen adamant their star man is not for sale this month. The Echo also report it could be a difficult task to land their man with Bayern Munich also very interested in securing his services.

How good is he?

Already a full Germany international at the age of 20, Brandt is thought to have an amazingly bright future in the game. He’s showing that he’s on his way to reach that potential with a series of exceptional performances for Leverkusen over the last two months.

With five assists and three goals in his last nine appearances, he’s showing consistency beyond his years and helping Leverkusen enjoy a fairly successful season so far.

Their highlight of the campaign so far has undoubtedly been qualifying for the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Spurs. Brandt played a key role in that achievement playing in all six Group Stage matches and scoring against Monaco.

With Klopp having a proven track record of developing young, German talent there’s every chance he’d be a success at Anfield if the reported deal goes through.
