The controversial Uruguayan was widely expected to leave Anfield over the summer as he openly sought a move to Real Madrid – and to an extent Arsenal.
However, the Reds held form and rejected multiple offers – including a cheeky £40m plus £1 bid from the Gunners – to keep their talismanic attacker at the club.
Suarez has since apologised for his actions and has now returned to the first-team following a 10-match ban received last season for biting Branislav Ivanovic.
It has been speculated that the South American is still looking to move in search of Champions league football, but Liverpool are considering offering him a bumper deal to stay.
The Merseysiders’ managing director Ian Ayre said that discussions could take place nearer the end of the season:
“We sort of begin those type of discussions two years in from the end, so it’ll be the end of this season,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“We’ll do the same with everyone and at the right time we’ll have the discussion with Luis and his advisors.”
Can Liverpool really keep Luis Suarez?
