Liverpool ready to wait for Saints ace

Liverpool are prepared to wait until after the World Cup to sign Adam Lallana, according to

The Southampton midfielder has been the subject of two bids from the Reds already this summer, with suggestions that the latest offer of £25million was a final approach from the Anfield club.

However, Brendan Rodgers has made the Saints captain his number one target this summer, and will wait until Lallana returns from the World Cup to secure the Englishman’s signature. The midfielder is expected to hand in a formal transfer request to the club after the tournament, as he is desperate to secure a move to Merseyside to play Champions League football.

Lallana scored 9 goals and assisted a further 8 for his Saints teammates in the Premier League this season, but could be one of many players to leave St. Mary’s this summer. The futures of Jay Rodriguez, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Pablo Osvaldo are all in doubt.

One man who has already left Southampton for the Reds is Rickie Lambert, after the striker secured his dream move to his boyhood club at the start of the week, before flying to Miami with the England squad ahead of the World Cup. He may be joined at Anfield by Lallana after the tournament.
