Daniel Agger has given Liverpool a much needed boost, with the news the injury he sustained during Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United is not as bad as first feared, according to The Metro.
The Danish international was carried off after an accidental clash with Antonio Valencia, with Rodgers claiming after the game he feared his star centre back had suffered knee ligament damage.
However tests have shown he is suffering from a bruised bone, and could be back in action as early as next weekend depending on how well he responds to treatment.
It is a boost for Rodgers who feared Agger could be ruled out for the season, just as Martin Kelly was following an injury he picked up in the same game.
The 22-year-old full back requires reconstructive surgery in his knee after suffering a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament.
